Subject: Constitution — Communication re business of the Synod

Be it resolved that this General Synod:
amend section 4 b) of the Constitution of the General Synod to read as follows:
.b) The General Secretary of the General Synod shall prepare a list of all business, notices of motion, petitions and memorials received by the General Secretary for submission to the synod and shall transmit a copy to every member of the synod at least 30 days before the day appointed for the holding of a meeting of the synod.

EXPLANATORY NOTE/BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Section 4 b) presently calls for the General Secretary to send a printed copy of the list of business, etc. to members of synod. The purpose of the resolution is to make it clear that such list may be circulated by electronic or other modern means of transmission. Section 13 of the Rules of Order and Procedure uses ‘transmission’ language with respect to distribution of legislative proposals.
PROCEDURE REQUIRED FOR ADOPTION:
This resolution must be passed by a two-thirds majority in each Order at this session of the General Synod.
