Canon Barbara Burrows Chair, General Synod Planning Committee

Greetings on behalf of the Planning Committee for General Synod 2010. The members of the Committee are listed below on this web site. We, along with the General Synod Worship Committee and the Local Arrangements Committee, will work hard to make this Synod both significant and enjoyable for you.

We have identified a number of items that will fill the agenda time, not the least of which will be reports from the three task forces of the Council of General Synod – Vision 2019, the Task Force on the Primacy and the Task Force on Governance – as well as continued discussion on sexuality, and the many exciting and life-giving ministries and partnerships which is what our church is all about. We see this time as a time of change in our church and in society, and we hope to embrace this change by taking advantage of continual technological advancements and trying to do Synod a bit differently.

Although we will have a full and important agenda, we will also have time to spend together informally, and with the people of the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, as we celebrate with them 300 years of continuous worship in their diocese, and taste some of their ‘down home’ hospitality.
