What is Jazz Vespers?

Jazz Vespers is a new take on an old service.  One of the traditional daily offices (or services) of the church was known as Vespers.  It was an evening service and included an association with light and candles. Today, many churches — Anglican, United and Lutheran — have begun to offer “Jazz Vespers”, a service usually held on Sundays in the late afternoon or early evening which includes prayers, reflection, candle-lighting and music, specifically Jazz music.
