EXPLANATORY NOTE/BACKGROUND INFORMATION

In accordance with Christ’s command, “love one another as I have loved you”, we believe that our baptism, as expressed in the promises of the baptismal covenant, “to seek and serve Christ in all people and to respect the dignity of every human being,” compels us to such action. We are therefore submitting this motion in the hope that it will allow those people who feel comfortable with the idea of providing generous pastoral care to those in committed, monogamous, same-sex relationships to do so freely.
