BE IT RESOLVED:
That this General Synod welcome the publication of the work of the International Commission for Anglican Orthodox Theological Dialogue “The Cyprus Statement: The Church of the Triune God”, commend it for study in the church, and express its thanks to the members of the Commission and especially to the Rev’d Canon Dr. John Gibaut of St. Paul University in Ottawa for his contribution to this important ecumenical endeavour.
EXPLANATORY NOTE/BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The International Commission for Anglican Orthodox Theological Dialogue, one of the bilateral ecumenical dialogues in which the Anglican Communion participates, has produced a series of agreed statements from work begun in 1989. It is expected that is will soon be available to General Synod delegates online at www.anglicancommunion.org and it is available for purchase, published by Church House Press, London England.
