From a hard working , growing Traditional church. Now introducing contemporary worship: My name is Richard Roblin & I am from St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in Napanee Ontario.. I help lead in music worship at our Contemporary services on Saturday night at 7PM and occasionally at our 9:15 family service on Sunday morning.
I am blessed along with my family to be part of this beautiful church and its family. A lot of work has been done in the church to open the doors to everyone and make them feel welcome with the many different style services available, there is something for everyone. Our church band called Spirit Rising has helped to lead many contemporary services in the past and I have uploaded a picture of us all. I am the oldest on the right. To introduce the members from left to right (Rob Marriott, bass guitar) (Amanda Roblin, vocal, my daughter) ( Kathleen Smith, Canon David Smith’s daughter.) (Curtis Snider, rhythm accoustic) (Richard Roblin , me, accoustic guitar and keyboard, writer) ( front, Sean Lonergan, electric drums, recording engineer). Its great to have a mixture of ages that enjoy praising in song together. Being a Christian songwriter it has been a joy to work with this group and many others in the church. Please check out our Facebook page under St. Mary Magdalene Anglican church Napanee, also some of my songs can be downloaded at www.sharesong.org. I am happy to announce also that I am working on a C.D. under the recording engineering of Sean Lonergan . Many of the band members will be featured on this C.D. A portion of the sales will be given to our Me to We youth program and Deacon Davids Morning Star Mission. Still on the works. Our Church is blessed with many hard working people including our Rector (Canon David F . Smith) and Deacon David B. Smith. To end I am happy to announce our church is celebrating our 200th anniversary of Anglican worship in Napanee this year. God bless…..
So happy to hear that St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church is flourishing. I was married there in 1961 and have moved a few times in my life. We currently live in Kanata but we spent 27 years in Stittsville. We continue to worship at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Stittsville. For several years now we have had a contemperary group which joins the regular church choir one Sunday a month and they also have one Sunday a month where they do the music. It has been well received although in the beginning some of the people rebelled a bit. I understand from some people in Napanee that you have had an Army Chaplain helping with the service. Until yesterday we have had an Army Chaplain with us for two years. He is leaving us for Halifax as he has been appointed as Lt. Commander of the Naval Chaplains. We will miss him as he brought a new outlook to God’s work in the Armed Service.
I wish you and your congregation well in all your endeavours. Happy anniversary and many more.
