This resolution was carried.

moved by: The Rt. Rev. Leonard Whitten from the Diocese of Western Newfoundland
seconded by: The Rt. Rev. Donald Young from the Diocese of Central Newfoundland

Note: The mover and the seconder must be members of the General Synod and be present in the House when the resolution is before the synod for debate.

BE IT RESOLVED:

That this General Synod, as provided for in Section 7(b)(iii) of the Declaration of Principles, grants its consent to an adjustment of the boundary between the Diocese of Central Newfoundland and the Diocese of Western Newfoundland as adopted by the synods of those dioceses in 1998 and 2000 respectively and by the Synod of the Ecclesiastical Province of Canada in 2000 so as to define the boundary between the dioceses as a straight line drawn from Rencontre West to the west side of Hind's Lake, thence to Cull's Island in Notre Dame Bay and along the north side of Notre Dame Bay.

EXPLANATORY NOTE/BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

St. Luke's Congregation in Springdale, NF has been part of the Diocese of Western Newfoundland since 1988. The necessary actions to formalize the transfer have been now adopted by the two diocesan synods and by the provincial synod.
