with Supplemental Eucharistic Prayer #2

The Collect:

God, your boundless love formed the whole of creation.
Shape the gathering of this General Synod,
that knowing you as our centre, we may join in your creative work,
drawing our world into the wide and ever wider circle of your embrace;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prayers of the People:

Let us pray for the Anglican Communion throughout the world (Silence)
for the Anglican Church of Canada,
that we may eagerly follow Christ into the new place he will lead us.
We offer ourselves in Christ.
O God, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for renewed hope in every nation and society (Silence)
that we may be invigorated to herald God’s future
and invite all peoples
to rejoice in the ever expanding circle of God’s reign.
We offer ourselves in Christ.
O God, hear our prayer.

O God, hear our prayer.
Let us pray for those who live in troubled areas of this world. (Silence)
that God may rescue them from fear
and give to them the share of dignity
conferred on all God’s children.
We offer ourselves in Christ.
O God, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for this General Synod
as we seek to discern and do God’s will. (Silence)
That the Holy Spirit may enlighten us with wisdom,
strengthen us with courage
and fill us with loving-kindness.
We offer ourselves in Christ:
O God, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for the sick, the fearful, the isolated
and all who thirst for deliverance. (Silence)
That they may drink freely from the living water of grace
and know God’s compassion
through the care of many sisters and brothers.
We offer ourselves in Christ:
O God, hear our prayer.

Let us remember those who have gone before
and prepared the way for us,
especially those who served faithfully as members of General Synod…

and that with them we may welcome the new heaven and new earth,
we offer ourselves in Christ:
O God, hear our prayer.

Holy One,
you catch us unawares
and accompany us on the way,
empowering us to draw the circle wide.
Guide and strengthen us by your Spirit,
that we may give ourselves today in love and service
to one another and to you;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
