One key in seeking your vocation is to look at the obstacles you face. Are they signs you are headed in the wrong direction, or are they bumps to be overcome?

We read in John that we’re called to lay down our lives for our friends. We do this every day as we become channels of God’s love.

Who has shown you what it means to be a person of love?

Vocation is not what’s written on your business card. It’s your identity, how you’re uniquely called to radiate love in the world.

How would you describe your vocation? (Today.)

Our role is to help make this world the creation God intended. It is a personally costly vocation, demanding daily sacrifice, but in being true to it God’s glory will shine through our lives.

If I can have a thousand ‘friends’ on Facebook, if I can add and delete them at will, if I can engage or not, completely on my own terms, I may come to have unrealistic expectations about what real flesh-and-blood community looks like. This is a compilation of the past week’s videos.

When we are lonely, God might not fix it, but God can help us to make sense of it. We learn not to seek that others ‘fix’ what we are lacking.

A very sound spiritual practice in community is to learn to stop spinning webs of negative thoughts around others.
