Be it resolved that this General Synod:
- recognizes that 2011 marks the 40th anniversary of ARCIC and gives thanks for this dialogue and for the progress it has made in strengthening the relationship between our two Churches;
- requests that copies of this resolution be sent to the President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, the co-chairs of Anglican Roman Catholic dialogue-Canada and the co-chairs of the Anglican Roman Catholic International Commission.

EXPLANATORY NOTE/BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission marks 40 years of dialogue in 2011. The first phase of dialogue (1970-1981) dealt with the topics of Eucharist, Ministry, and Authority. In the second phase of dialogue (1983-2005), the commission addressed a diverse range of topics including Salvation and the Church, The Church as Communion, Life in Christ: Morals, Communion and the Church, The Gift of Authority , and Mary: Grace and Hope in Christ. The third phase of dialogue will begin this year.
The Anglican Church of Canada and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops began their own dialogues at the same time as the International Commission. Faith, Worship and Ministry recognizes the value to the Anglican Church of Canada of 40 years of dialogue with the Roman Catholic Church. Through both the theological dialogue and the bishops’ dialogue, the two churches have studied the work of the International Commission and brought to life for the Canadian context the important theological and pastoral dimensions of this important ecumenical relationship.
