EXPLANATORY NOTE/BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The General Synod was incorporated by a special Act of Parliament in 1921. In 2009 Parliament passed new legislation respecting not-for-profit corporations. Although the law is not yet in force it will probably be proclaimed within the next year. At some time it will be desirable, or required, that the General Synod apply to be continued as a corporation under the new legislation. This resolution will authorize the Council of General Synod to make such an application when it is appropriate, or necessary, to do so.
