EXPLANATORY NOTE/BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
We have been in full communion with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada since 2001. For several years that Church has been represented at meetings of the Council of the General Synod by a ‘partner’ who has had voice but no vote. The Council of the General Synod recommends that the ELCIC nominate a member for election by the General Synod to its Council. The member so elected will be a voting member of the Council.
PROCEDURE REQUIRED FOR ADOPTION:
This resolution must be passed by a two-thirds majority in each Order at this session of the General Synod.
