Primate responds to President of Iran

It was with deep concern that we heard the remarks of the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, last week calling for the destruction of Israel.   As Anglicans we strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being.  The remarks of the President must be condemned for inciting hatred of the Jewish people and supporting violence against them.   We are firmly against these views and stand with those seeking a peaceful, non-violent resolution to conflict in the Middle East.

The Most Reverend Andrew S. Hutchison

Archbishop and Primate
